NOVEMBER 26th - The mayors of the municipalities of the province of Alessandria (Cassine, Sezzadio, Bosco Marengo), together with the owner of the historic abbey of Sezzadio, signed a document for the sustainability of the European project THETRIS, issued to enhance and promote the route of religious buildings located in the municipalities: Santa Giustina in Sezzadio, Santa Croce in Bosco Marengo, San Francesco in Cassine. This route marks a historical, artistic, and cultural itinerary combining elements of the sacred tradition with the upshot of the main local resources (high-quality handicrafts, enogastronomic niche products, rural and agricultural landscape). The overall objective of the project THETRIS, implemented through the Central Europe Programme co-financed by the ERDF, is the preservation and the enhancement of the cultural heritage based on churches in the regions of eleven project partners coming from eight central European countries (Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia) through the implementation of specific management strategies. The specific objectives of the project are the increase of the competitiveness of the different regions by the capitalization of cultural heritage, the development of long-term strategies for the preservation and the sustainable exploitation of churches, and the reinforcement of awareness for the preservation of tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
